The Queen of Country Music, Loretta Lynn remains a strong woman. She suffered a stroke last week and she is expected to make a full recovery according to her website. She is still in the hospital and the doctor has instructed her to rest before heading back on the road. Yes-she still performs shows at the age of 85. So not only is she strong now-she’s been strong her whole life.
When she married her only husband, Doolittle, she was just 15 years old. I’m sure you’ve watched the biopic, “Coal Miner’s Daughter.” She had a lot to do with the movie, so unlike the Patsy Cline movie, “Sweet Dreams,” this one was right on about Loretta’s life.
Her dad, died in 1959 at the age of 52 and that crushed Loretta because she was always considered dad’s little girl. Her mother died in 1981. Loretta was the 2nd of 8 children as 2 of her siblings have died but Loretta is still going strong. Even 2 of her own children have died. Betsy Sue died at the age of 64 in 2013 and Jack Benny died in 1984 after drowning. Her husband died back in 1996 after several years of a “rocky” marriage.
She also stood the test of time with hits going back since 1960 when she signed her 1st record deal. Since then she has sold 45 million records worldwide and released over 160 songs. Loretta Lynn has 10 #1 Albums and 16 #1 singles from those albums. In 1972, she was the very 1st woman to win Entertainer of The Year.
So with all the losses in her life, she still fights to live everyday and she’s not done yet. Even at the age of 85.
