Sugarlips Chris Powers’ blog:
The duo Montgomery Gentry have been through a lot since their time together that started in 1999.
Let’s talk about the good first. They’ve celebrated 5 #1 hits: “If You Ever Stop Loving Me“, “Something to Be Proud Of“, “Lucky Man“, “Back When I Knew It All” and “Roll with Me.” They also had 20 singles that have charted.
Now the tragedies in their lives:
- Just last week, Troy Gentry’s father died.
- A couple of years ago, Troy’s wife, Angie battled breast cancer. She beat it!
- In 2015, Eddie Montgomery’s son died after being on life support due to an accident.
- Troy Gentry’s brother died in 2014 and his mom died in 2007.
With all the tragedies in their lives they kept entertaining fans wherever they’d go. I got to spend time with them twice and they were nice both times. Our thoughts are with Troy’s wife and 2 kids as well as Eddie Montgomery who lost a friend and bandmate.
