We all got the sad news this week that Country Music Star Daryle Singletary died at his home in Lebanon, Tennessee. The cause of death is unknown at this time but early indications was a blood clot that rushed to his heart. He was 46 years old and leaves behind his wife and 4 children.
This past Saturday he was playing at Cowboys Night Club in Scott, just outside Lafayette and a friend of mine hung out with him before the show. Daryle talked about not feeling good lately and his wife had made a doctors appointment for him on the Monday, which turned out to be the day he died.
Daryle’s big days came in the 90’s. He released 20 songs from 1995-2015 and 14 of them hit the charts. “I Let Her Lie,” and “Amen Kind Of Love,” reached #2, which was the highest he got on the charts. “Too Much Fun,” got as high as #4, which is my favorite song of his. It was not just that though. His voice was just so country. So many of his peers knew that. Craig Campbell was heart broken when he heard the news and he was quoted as saying that Daryle talked him into moving to Nashville. Travis Tritt and most of the stars of the 90’s are sending their condolences.
The last time I talked to Daryle was in the 90’s and had good talks with him every time. He was such a down to earth guy. Clifton Brown hung out with him on Saturday night in Lafayette and Lindsey Cardinale had just hung out on his bus that he bought from Miranda Lambert just a few days ago. Life is short, so don’t take it for granted and make sure you never leave someone you love-mad at each other. You never know when you’ll be called up to the big stage above.
